Feb 27, 2017: The State Government has accorded priority in reducing crimes against women and to ensure safety of women, State Government has already set up seven all-women Police Stations while four more will be established soon, said Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who also holds the Home Portfolio, today in Assembly in reply to a question.Opposition Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath raised the issue of crimes against women. He alleged crimes against women are increasing in the State. In reply Chief Minister focused upon Government initiatives and said, “State Government will recruit more women police personnel for setting up additional all-women Police Stations to bring down crimes against women”. He also mentioned about various other steps to be taken by the Government to check crimes against women.
To enhance overall security and safety, State Government has urged Centre to raise additional three battalions of Tripura State Riffles (TSR), he informed the House.In reply to another question, State Power and Urban Development Minister Manik De said, Union Government has sanctioned a new scheme – IPDS. The scheme aims at improving power transmission system in urban areas. Replying to a question raised by CPIM MLA Anjan Das, he said, under the scheme new 11KV underground electric transmission cable line will be laid in Agartala, Mohanpur, Jirania, Bishalgarh, Ambassa, Panisagar, Kamalpur and other municipality and Nagar Panchayat areas.
Manik De also said, works to lay underground cable lines under RAPTRP project has been completed in different areas of Agartala, Belonia, Udaipur and other areas.
