Mar 29, 2017: Pall of gloom descends all around across the State as the Supreme Court delivered verdict on 10323 teachers termination case today. The Supreme Court today upheld Tripura High Court’s verdict and ordered that job of 10323 teachers would remain in force till December 31, 2017. However, it further stated, the terminated teachers may face fresh interviews and/or other procedures and for this State Government will have to formulate proper recruitment processes following guidelines of NCERT.
As the news broke out, despondency prevailed among the terminated teachers. Mobile Phones of media houses kept buzzing. All sections of the society – employed or unemployed, benefited or deprived – have expressed solidarity with the terminated teachers. Truly, despondency and gloom loom large.
Reacting to the verdict, State Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty termed the verdict as unexpected. He said, the State Government was and will be by the side of the terminated teachers. Urging the concerned teachers and their family members not to be anxious, he said, Government will soon formulate recruitment policy in conformity with the guidelines. The State Government will create provision for those candidates who will be eligible for appearing in interview and TET, he said reiterating his Government’s commitment to stand by the side of the terminated teachers.
BJP has strongly criticized the State Government and leveled corruption charges against it in the wake of Supreme Court verdict. Demanding resignation of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, State BJP President said, Youth wing of BJP, Yuva Morcha will kick off intensive agitation programme across the State. He also said, the issue will be taken up at the National level to expose real face of Chief Minister and his Government. Alleging corruption, BJP State Prabhari Sunil Deodhar said, BJP will move Tripura High Court seeking CBI probe.
Both the Congress and Trinamool Congress too demanded resignation of the Chief Minister.
While Opposition parties are demanding resignation of Ministers, lost and frustrated teachers are waiting for next step of the State Government.
