Apr 24, 2017: Northeast India’s sixth and largest Information Technology (IT) hub – IT Bhavan and Software Technology Park of India (STPI) – was inaugurated at Indranagar, Agartala today to give impetus to employment avenues for IT educated youth. The state of the art IT Bhavan was constructed at an expenditure of around Rs 50 crores. Apart from employment opportunities, the IT Bhavan will promote IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) in the State.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, accompanied by IT and Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Principal Secretary of Industry and Commerce M Nagaraju, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Director General Omkar Rai and other distinguished guests, inaugurated the IT Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, Manik Sarkar said, there is no dearth of talents in the State and the IT hub will be create job opportunities for the youth. “Revenue generation is not our prime objective, the purpose of IT Hub will be fulfilled if the IT-educated youths of the State get job here”, he said and expressed hope that the Hub would cater the aspiration of youth. He urged STPI authority to ensure that youth of Tripura get a fair chance as far as employment is concerned. He expressed hope that the IT Bhavan will cast a new dawn for job aspirants in the State.
In the IT Bhavan, a State Data Center has been set up which will act as central repository for all e-Governance applications and data storage of different departments of the State Governments in highly secured and sophisticated environment.
IT minister Tapan Chakraborty said, the Central Government awarded Tripura last year for implementing several e-governance facilities. The State has launched massive initiative for ‘digital Tripura’ and almost 80% of State’s 37 lakh population are using various forms of IT and mobile related services, he said and expressed hope that IT Hub would boost the drive for digitization.
Omkar Rai said, the IT hub in Agartala is the 97th software park in the country and Agartala’s IT Bhavan includes all the modern facilities.
