Apr 30, 2017: Reaffirming the demand for Tobu district from the present Mon district, more than hundred people of Tobu area spearheaded by the Tobu district demand committee met the State Chief Minister Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu and submitted the reaffirmation letter yesterday.
In the reaffirmation letter, the committee stated that in 1987, the government of Nagaland having understood the difficulties and administrative inconveniences of Tobu, posted I. Alienba Ao as the Deputy Commissioner Tobu and his proposal to upgrade Tobu sub-division to Tobu district has remained unfulfilled since then. They pointed that the district administrative re-organization committee 2016 led by R. Kevichusa (IAS Rtd) as the chairman has already submitted to the government of Nagaland, the demand for the upgradation of Tobu sub-division to district on which the government has not taken any action yet.
Expressing that Tobu district is a public cry for justice due to prolonged years of negligence and for being left in the periphery of administrative headquarter for so long while villages under Tobu areas are more than 190 kms away from Mon headquarter, they said the demand is a serious demand for just and effective convenience.
