June 11, 2017: From CPIM to Congress, then brief bonhomie with Trinamool followed by rejoining CPIM few months ago – Jiten Sarkar, former Speaker of Tripura Assembly today once again changes colour.
Former Speaker of State Assembly Jiten Sarkar today joined BJP in presence of All India BJP general secretary Ramlal. Along with him, ADC member Joy Kishor Jamatia – who was expelled from CPM for his alleged immoral behaviour – also joined BJP.
All India BJP general secretary Ramlal today arrived in Agartala in a 3-day tour. Party sources said, he will oversee the organizational preparations for ensuing Assembly Polls and he is expected to hold series of meetings with the State leaders and assess the ground realities.
Later addressing a press conference today, Ramlal said, all possible assistance will be provided to State party to oust CPM and form BJP Government. He said preparation to form BJP Government is going on in full swing and urged people of the State to come forward and assist in forming BJP-led Government in the State.
Jiten Sarkar, addressing a press conference after joining BJP, became emotional and expressed his ‘sordid’ experience as a member of Communist Party. Alleging that CPM is an autocratic Party, Jiten Sarkar said, he had served communist party for 45 years and became MLA for six times – however his association with communist party never gave him mental peace.
Without explaining why he quitted Congress, Jiten Sarkar said, “Before re-joining CPM, I was in touch with Sudip Roy Barman and went to Delhi along with them to meet Amit Shah and decide formalities for joining BJP”, he said and added, Sudip Roy Barman was opposed the idea to join BJP under leadership erstwhile State president of BJP, late Sudindra Dasgupta. “Amit Shah did not buy Sudip Roy Barman’s argument”, he commented. Talking about as to why he did not join Trinamool Congress, he cited ‘indecisiveness’ of Mamata Banerjee.
