June 23, 2017: The Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma today hinted at possibility of inclusion of Tripura Trinamool MLAs including Sudip Roy Barman into BJP fold. Notably Sharma arrived at Agartala on June 22 in a two-day visit. He interacted with the local media today in Agartala.
Outlining BJP National president Amit Shah’s view on strategies to fight against CPIM, Himanta said, fight against the misrule of CPIM is not a lone fight of BJP and it has to be fought together with other parties. He also said, the BJP’s national as well as state presidents have already appealed to all parties except the CPIM office-bearers to join the BJP fold.
Significantly, he made it clear that distribution of nomination for ensuing Assembly Polls, determining portfolios in the party would be the prerogative of the BJP’s state unit.
Saying that BJP has no MLA, at present, in Tripura he appealed to the six Trinamool and three Congress MLAs to cast their votes in favour of the BJP candidate Ram Nath Kovind for the post of president of the country.
Having said that CPIM has already become ‘nervous’ at the emergence of BJP, he cited an instance where the State Health Minister rejected a Central proposal pertaining to foundation stone laying ceremony for a super speciality Hospital.
