June 26, 2017: The CPIM today referred to circumstances prevailed in 1988 that ousted the party from power and alleged saffron party is exploring every possible way to grab the power in Tripura. “The demand for Disturbed Area Act in the poll bound state is a blue print to topple the Left Front government”, said party State secretary Bijan Dhar.
Addressing a press conference today in Agartala, he said, BJP leaders and supporters are desperately trying to create unrest in the State. Sensing that CPIM cannot be defeated in democratic manner, BJP is trying to capture power through back door – like 1988, he commented.
Referring to violence allegedly unleashed by BJP, Bijan Dhar said, in Tipra Bazar under Belonia sub division, CPIM workers tried to resist and stop violence started by BJP supporters. BJP supporters attacked our Sonaichhari Party Office leading to clashes CPIM workers. “BJP has resorted to violence to derive political mileage”, he alleged.
Asserting that every person has the right to defence, Dhar said how far this kind of intolerance could be tolerated. “ In spite of violence, the BJP is not getting support from the people that resulted in frustration among the party leaders, he pointed out.
On the Congress demand of resignation of Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath, the CPM state secretary the demand itself ridiculous. “Ms Nath will not resign from the post even if the CBI sleuths are all set to grill her on June 29”, he clarified.
