July 5, 2017: Being disassociated by the West Bengal unit of Trinamool Congress (TMC), legislators of Tripura TMC are now desperately trying to come closer to BJP or rather join join BJP. Legislators of Tripura TMC will fly to Guwahati tomorrow apparently with high expectation and strong desire to join BJP. However, Ashish Saha who resigned from Pradesh president of Trinamool Congress today, said that MLAs would be going to Guwahati to meet and extend support to NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
“Five out of six Trinamool Congress MLAs will go to Guwahati tomorrow, while the 6th person – Dilip Sarkar – is expected to reach Guwahati from New Delhi”, Saha said and added Dilip Sarkar is in New Delhi for medical purposes.
Explaining purpose of Guwahati tour, Saha said, “After receiving invitation from BJP, we are going there to meet the NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind and extend our support”.
On joining BJP, Saha said, there is nothing specific to mention at present. However, he mentioned that All India BJP leaders like Ram Madhav and State BJP president Biplab Deb along with State observer Sunil Deodhar would be reaching Guwahati tomorrow and meetings relating to joining BJP are likely to be held in presence of Finance Minister of Assam Himant Biswa Sharma. “Things will take a shape after meeting and discussions”, Saha commented.
Today the State committee of Trinamool Congress today held a meeting at Trinamool Bhavan in Agartala in presence of MLA Sudip Roy Barman and other leaders. After the meeting, Ashish Saha informed the media persons that he had resigned as Pradesh president and Dibachandra Hrankhal as CLP. In today’s meeting MLA Pranajit Singhroy and MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen were absent. As Dilip Sarkar is undergoing treatment in New Delhi, he also could not attend today’s meeting.
Ashish Saha also said six MLAs of the party will meet once again on July 8 after returning from Guwahati and discuss with supporters regarding future course of actions. We will also focus on our discussion with All India BJP leaders in Guwahati and analyse the outcome in that meeting, said Saha. “Our commitment to fight against Leftists remains firm and we will hold another meeting to chalk out future course of action to fulfill our commitment”, Saha said.
Terming Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee’s announcement of suspending relation with five Trinamool Congress MLAs of Tripura as irresponsible and irrational, Ashish Saha said, vice president of Trinamool Congress Mukul Roy announced Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee and now Chatterjee is saying Trinamool Congress has no connection with Sudip Roy Barman and other MLAs – is this Partha’s mockery or jugglery?
