June 27, 2017: BSNL employees in Tripura today observed cease work as part of the country wide agitation. BSNL employees observed one day strike in support of 5-point demand list including pay and pension revision. The strike was organized under the banner of Unions and Association of BSNL. In Tripura officers, workers and pensioners participated in the agitation. Denouncing Central Govt’s policies relating to BSNL, agitating employees stated, we will be forced to resort to more intensified agitation, if the government does not respond favourably to the demand of the employees.
“We are demanding revision of pay scale of all officers and employees as well as revision of pensions on the basis of January, 2017”, stated an employee. Elaborating about demand list, another employee said, implementation of Superannuation Benefit at the rate of 30 per cent for directly recruited employees and calculation of pension based on actual pay are important issues mentioned in the demand list. Sources said, apart from wage hike and pay-pension revision, charter of demand also included withdrawal of ban on trade union activities in BSNL.
