June 28, 2017: Tripura unit of BJP once again criticized the CPIM government and alleged that Left Front had deprived the tribal communities. Addressing a press conference today after his three-day stay in Dhalai district State BJP president Biplab Deb alleged, the State Government has failed on all fronts for welfare of the tribal people.
He said, according to Central Budget rules demand that budget should be allocated on the basis of proportion of population. In Tripura, tribal population consists of 31 per cent and henceforth 31 per cent budget allocation for tribal people is necessary. However, the State Government so far allocated only 16 per cent for tribal communities. “Tribal people were deprived of their rightful 31 per cent years after years”, Deb alleged.
Highlighting Modi-led Government’s initiatives for tribal people, he said, before Modi Government was formed Planning Commission disbursed fund through sub-plans and if the fund could not be utilized, it would considered as lapsed fund. However, Modi-led Govt after forming Niti Ayog in place of Planning commission augmented sub-plan allocation from Rs 24 thousand crore to Rs 34 thousand crore, moreover, the fund will not lapse if Government is unable to spend it in a given year.
He also blamed the ruling Government for ‘pathetic’ education scenario and ‘deplorable’ health care delivery system. He asked, why Senior basic and High Secondary Schools in ADC areas have not been handed over to ADC administration. He also pointed out that there exists around 19-20 thousand vacant posts in ADC, however the State Government is not taking actions to fill up the posts which would benefit large number of tribal youths. He criticized the Government for not implementing Lokayukta in ADC areas and alleged it was done to pave way for corruption.
