World Hepatitis Day: Tripura CM stresses on vaccination
June 28, 2017: Immunization programme plays crucial role in preventing prevalence of Hepatitis and the programme is key to eliminate the disease. The State Government has accorded importance on immunization programme. The Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar stated this after inaugurating a programme on the World Hepatitis Day. The Day was observed in Tripura along with rest of the globe with sole aim of ‘Eliminate Hepatitis’. Speaking in the inaugural programme Dr Sujit Choudhury of Kolkata stated, one lakh 50 thousand people of Tripura are carrying Hepatitis B virus an total 11 lakh received vaccines.
Notably, in preventive Health care system, Tripura made significant stride forward. The Infant Mortality Rate is much lower in Tripura compared to national average. Lowering IMR was achieved to expanding ambit of immunization and popularizing institutional delivery. In both cases, ASHA workers played pivotal role.
Meanwhile, World Hepatitis Day is also the Raising Day of Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura which is involved in multiple activities in control hepatitis.
