Aug 05, 2017: Ending speculations, five former TMC MLAs of Tripura met BJP All India president Amit Shah today in New Delhi. Even though it remains unknown what transpired in the meeting, there is no scope changing date of joining BJP by the MLAs. All the five TMC MLAs along with their supporters will formally join BJP on August 7 at Agartala.
Sources in the BJP said that the formal joining of five MLAs would be held at Agartala during a rally in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on August 7 in presence Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and senior BJP leader Ram Madhav.
Along with Amit Shah, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, State president BJP unit president Biplab Deb, state in-charge Sunil Deodhar held talks with TMC MLAs Sudip Roy Barman, Asish Saha, Biswabandhu Sen, Diba Chandra Hragkhawal , Pranjit Singha Roy. Two other leaders – Alik Majumder and Sushanta Choudhury of TMC camp – were also present in the meeting. Another suspended MLA Dilip Sarkar could not attend today’s meeting.
