August 25, 2017: Expressing disgust at ‘indecisiveness’ of leaders of Parties in Opposition, more than 250 voters threw today their weights behind ruling CPIM in Agartala, Tripura. In a mass agitation programme organized against BJP and Narendra Modi led central government on a six point charter of demands, 255 members of 59 families joined CPM deserting Trinamool Congress and Congress, Party sources said.
The joining meeting was held at GB Hospital Market near Agartala. Member of Parliament Sankar Prasad Dutta and Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly Pabitra Kar welcomed the new entrants in the red party.
Party sources claimed, today’s joining programme indicates growing dissent among the supporters of other parties. Apart from boosting morale of the Party supporters, today’s joining programme will send a strong message to all who are indulged in divisive policies.
Eyeing on ensuing Assembly polls, CPM launched agitation against BJP on six-point demand which included abandoning move by the Central Government to merge and privatize PSUs, waving of loans for marginal farmers and ensuring job for the unemployed and review the GST slabs on consumer items.
Addressing the gathering, MP Sankar Prasad Dutta slammed the Central Government for adopting ‘anti-people’ and ‘pro-corporate’ policies. Referring to ‘failed’ promises made Narendra Modi during last LS Polls, Dutta said, Modi led Government has failed to meet people’s aspirations and expectation. “The Central Government has failed on all accounts”, Dutta alleged.
Congratulating the new entrants, Pabitra Kar urged people to join hands and resist ‘divisive’ forces. Both Dutta and Kar urged people to ensure victory for the Leftists in Assembly Polls ensuing peace and growth.
