September 09, 2017: In the past, many leaders left Congress Party and later came back. To name a few, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, two former Chief Ministers, namely Sachindra lal Singh and Sokhomoy Sengupta are notable among those deserted the Party only to come back to Party fold. It happened in the past and the same thing happening now – so no need to lose heart. PCC Chief Birajit Sinha stated this while addressing a district level Party workers’ conference. The conference was held today in Kamalpur to nominate Dhalai District Congress in-charge president for the time being. Among others, All India Congress leader Bhupen Vora, State leader Gopal Roy, leader of Tribal wing of Congress Sachitra Debbarma and State Mahila Congress leader Usha Sinha were also present in the conference.
The chair of Dhalai District president fell vacant after former Dhalai District president Manoj Kanti Deb deserted Congress and joined BJP recently.
Hailing those who are still with Congress Party, Sinha said, these party workers are loyal and faithful to Congress Party’s ideology. In the wake of large scale desertion, he urged Congress supporters not to lose courage and confidence.
Referring to Dhalai District Congress Committee president Manoj Kanti Deb who recently joined BJP, he said, “People will go and come back. I imparted political lessons to Manoj Kanti Deb and prepared him to become a Youth leader. However, his attitude became apprehensive after Congress lost power in Delhi.”
Aiming to boost morale of Party supporters, Sinha asserted, many of the people who have left the Party, would make a beeline to return once Congress storms back in power at Centre. He said, Congress Party runs on definite ideological principles and is certain to achieve success in future.
In today’s conference, former district Congress leader Manik Deb was selected as in-charge president.
