September 19, 2017: Farmers’ suicide in the country is alarmingly increasing due to ‘anti-farmers’ policies, but why there is no word from the Central Government, asked Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today at Agartala. Resentment among the common people of the country is palpable and BJP leaders are trying to shift people’s attention by adopting divisive policies, Sarkar said while addressing a rally in Agartala organized by CPIM’s tribal organization – Gana Mukti Parishad.
Defying inclement weather and vicious attacks reportedly by IPFT cadres, on vehicles carrying GMP supporters, a large number of tribal people assembled at Ashtabal Ground today. “Amidst heavy downpour, GMP supporters maintained enviable discipline and laudable patience”, GMP leaders said.
In his almost hour long speech, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar urged people to thwart conspiracy hatched by IPFT to divide Tripura. “Maintain a tight vigil and stay united to defeat the evil plans of divisive forces”, he urged. Sarkar also emphasized on empowering ADC administration by transferring more power. He also mentioned about struggles of GMP under leadership of Sudhanyo Debbarma and Dasharath Debbarma.
Mentioning about demonetization, Sarkar said, demonetization has pushed Indian economy in dire state. “It was stated that demonetization would unearth black money, cut life line of militancy. But the reality is in stark contrast with the claims and common people are bearing burns of demonetization”, Sarkar said.
While the economy is battling to come out of the shock of demonetization, implementation of GST delivered another painful blow, he commented and added, “Prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing while employment opportunities are shrinking. With growing economic distresses and pressures, people of the country are coming together and started voicing against Modi-led Government, Sarkar said.
Keeping an eye on ensuing State Assembly Polls, Manik Sarkar urged people to raise voice against slashing allocation for MNREGA and other ‘anti-people’ policies.
