Agartala, September 15, 2019: The Tripura Government is chalking out plans to upgrade Neermahal into International tourist spot within a decade with required infrastructural development, said Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and added that the government had set a target of annual earning of Rs 100 crore from tourism and related business activities in Neermahal in near future.
The Chief Minister who today inaugurated the boat race and swimming competitions – integral and exciting part of Neermahal Utsav held at Melaghar, emphasized on creating sustainable income sources centering Neermahal and Rudrasagar.
“If Jal Mahal in Rajasthan can accrue business of crores of rupees, why our Neermahal will not become a tourists hub. In fact, Neermahal and Rudrasagar – amidst unique natural beauty – provide scope for earning huge income from tourism. Previous LF government ignored the potentiality – but we are working on upgrading Neermahal”, Deb said.
Focusing on government’s plan, he said, “The State government is working on setting up three-star hotel here. Moreover, several proposals for improving infrastructural facilities – like introduction of speed boats, construction of houseboats etc – are in the pipeline.
