The under-17 boys and girls yoga competition of the 67th National School Games will be inaugurated tomorrow. The five-day competition will run till November 27. This was announced by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tintu Roy at a press conference held at the Press Conference Hall of the Secretariat today.

At the press conference, the Sports Minister said that the yoga competition of the 67th National School Games will be held at the Indoor Stadium of the Netaji Subhas Regional Sports Training Centre (NSRSC). About 500 participants from various states of the country will take part in it. So far, 351 players from 18 states and 3 union territories have registered their names. Of these, 174 are in the boys’ category and 177 are in the girls’ category. This number is expected to increase further by tomorrow.

The Sports Minister said that the under-17 football and gymnastics competitions of the National School Games had been held in the state earlier. This is the first time that a competition in the yoga event will be held. The judges for this competition will come from outside the state.

The Sports Minister said that the sports infrastructure of the state has been developed extensively due to the sincere efforts of the present state government. As a result, the state’s sports are progressing.

At the press conference, Secretary of the Sports Department Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty said that Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the competition in the under-17 yoga event of the 67th National School Games tomorrow. Various competitions of the National School Games have been successfully organized in the state earlier. 

The Sports Department has taken various steps to successfully organize the current competition of the 67th National School Games. Also present at the press conference was Satyabrata Nath, Director of the Sports Department.
