A middle aged man, reportedly in an inebriated condition, went on rampage and injured three persons of his family in an arrow attack.
The incident occurred at the Government Para of Dhalabill Colony under Khowai Police Station in Tripura on Thursday night.
The drunken accused man, Ranjit Tanti (55) shot an arrow at his wife, Renu Tanti (40). His son, Sanjit Tanti (25) and nephew Pratap Tanti (19) also fell victim to his arrow shooting spree.
An arrow has been pierced in the chest of each of them. Doctors at khowai District Hospital are trying remove the arrows from the bodies of the three injured persons. Ranjit Tanti, the accused remained absconding.
Ranjit Tanti (55), a resident of the Dhalabil Colony area, came home after drinking too much alcohol and suddenly attempted going out of his house with a bow and arrow in his hand.
Noticing this, his wife Renu Tanti tried to stop him. Ranjit reacted by shooting an arrow at Renu and injured her.
The chaos brought his son Sanjit and nephew Pratap to scene. As they tried to stop Ranjit, they were also shot at.
Each of the three arrows hit the targets and went into each of the injured persons’ chests.
After that, there was a cry of panic in the area. Sensing danger, Ranjit Tanti fled with his bow and arrows in his hand. He is still at large till the last available information. Local police are searching for Ranjit Tanti.
Local police rushed to Dhalabill after receiving the news of the incident. The injured were taken to hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Local residents expressed shock and are fearing that Ranjit may turn up with his bow and arrows and injure others.
