A somber atmosphere prevailed in the vicinity adjacent to Melaghar Thakurpara School under Sepahijala District of Tripura on Friday following the recovery of bodies of three deceased family members.

The unsettling incident sent shockwaves through the community. Cause of their death remains unknown. Police shifted the bodies to Hospital for post mortem and initiated prompting investigations to unravel the circumstances behind the tragedy.

The recovered bodies were identified as Chintaharan Pal (70), his wife Pratima Pal (50), and their daughter Monika Pal (20).
They were all residing at the Melaghar Thakurpara School premises.

Chintaharan, a potter by profession. His wife was engaged in  mid-day meals at a school. He often lent a helping hand to his wife.  Additionally, the family crafted idols at home whenever opportunities arose. Their only daughter, Monika Pal went to college but could not completed her studies after she fell ill and eventually she became handicapped.

“Monika Pal, despite facing physical challenges that affected her mobility, had pursued her education up to college, encountering numerous hurdles along the way but regrettably unable to complete her studies”, neighbours commented.

Apart from his idol making and his wife’s MDM service, Chittaranjan Pal was also receiving Elderly Pension Allowance. According to the neighbours, Pal was a well known person and the family was not facing any serious financial issues.

The tragic incident came to the fore after Pal failed to report to the school for the MDM. As some people to the house to inquire, they found the doors closed, prompting nearby residents to intervene.

After entering into the house, neighbors were met with a devastating sight—the lifeless bodies of the parents and their daughter were lying on a bed.

Police were swiftly informed and arrived at the scene, retrieving the bodies and initiating procedures for post-mortem examinations at the hospital.

Amidst an atmosphere fraught with speculation, the police have officially registered the case as an instance of unnatural death.
