Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Naidu held a meeting with the District Magistrates and senior district level officials of Unakoti district at the Circuit House conference hall in Kailashahar on Wednesday. During the meeting, the Governor stressed that the departments need to work in coordination with each other in the implementation of development projects.
District Magistrate of Unakoti, Rajib Dutta welcomed Governor Indrasena Reddy Naidu after he reached Kailashahar. The Governor was given a guard of honor by the security forces.
During the meeting with the District Magistrate and senior district level officials of various departments, the Governor took a detailed look at the various development projects in the district. He told the officials that the work on the projects that are almost in the final stage must be completed by February 15, 2024.
The Governor took a strong stance on child marriage saying that cases must be filed against anyone who encourages child marriage. Besides, he also said arrangements must be made to provide scholarships to eligible students.
The Governor told the officers that steps must be taken to address the issue of lack of roads, electricity and drinking water connection within a specified time. He stressed on ensuring these facilities in settlements promptly where such facilities are not available.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Naidu directed the Department of Horticulture and Land Conservation to encourage farmers to grow red palm trees to increase their income. The Governor also stressed the importance of encouraging farmers to grow dragon fruit and pineapple during the meeting.
In addition, the Governor advised the officials of the Health Department to encourage institutional childbirth.
The Governor’s Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Superintendent of Police of Unakoti district Bhanupada Chakraborty, and officials from Kumarghat and Kailashahar were present at the meeting.
