Former Chief Minister and BJP’s West Tripura constituency candidate Biplab Kumar Deb launched a scathing attack on the CPIM and said, the Communist party, which has held sway in Tripura for a quarter-century, finds itself at a crossroads.
Public confidence in their governance has waned, and they face a surprising challenge: they couldn't even field a candidate for the West Tripura seat.
Deb was addressing an election campaign held on Saturday at Anandnagar under the West Lok Sabha Polls.
He alleged that the Communists never worked for the welfare of the people except for their own political gain. And so the party has become desolate after being ousted from power. Communists have no ideals or principles.
“For the past few decades, these Congress and Communists have fooled the people of the state and staged a drama of accusations against each other. One party criticized the policies and ideals of the other party and argued against them. If they had worked for public welfare in the past, the communists would not have landed to such dismal political position that they couldn’t even find candidates to contest”, Deb said.
He also alleged that fear and terror were the only tools used by the Communists to stay in power. Even children, elderly women and others were not exempted from political violence. Many people were killed by each other. But since the establishment of the BJP government in Tripura, there had not been a single incident of political murder. Here lied the difference.
He pointed out that people of the state were now getting assistance from almost every central state scheme including drinking water, houses through Awas Yojana.
Deb said, the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Narendra Modi has taken strong steps one after another for the welfare of the country, whereas the communists have only indulged in misdeeds starting from employment to the distribution of benefits, it was all about nepotism and partisan governance.
Apart from the party supporters, no other people of Tripura used to get any kind of government or other assistance during the Left regime.
MLA of Suryamaninagar Assembly Constituency Ram Prasad Pal, BJP Vice President Tapas Bhattacharya and others were present on the occasion.
