March 24, 2018: As the Malaysia based Mobile company Aircel suddenly shut down its operations in Tripura, distributors and thousands of retailers have incurred huge financial losses across the State. Addressing a press conference, secretary of Aircel Distributors’ Association Ranajoy Roy Choudhury said, “Aircel company, without prior information or notice, stopped their services in Tripura from February 22, 2018. As many as 35 distributors and 7000 retailers have lost crores of rupees which were invested in the business.
The National Companies Law Tribunal (NCLT) announced Aircel and its sister concerns bankrupt after the Company took loans of worth Rs. 14,300 cr from SBI and Rs 912 cr from GTL Infra Company.
Saying that the Aircel Company has looted the distributors and retailers as well as cheated the customers, Roy Choudhury sought State Government’s intervention and co-operation for interest of people of Tripura and business community.
