An ambulance driver of Tamilnadu who drove 5 people from Chennai to Tripura tested positive for Covid19. He has already left Tripura. His close contacts are now quarantined

Agartala, April 29, 2020: An ambulance driver of Tamilnadu who drove five people from Chennai to Tripura tested positive for Coronavirus. Detailing about it, State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, on April 27 last, five people– three from Gomati and two from Baikhora– returned Home from Chennai in an ambulance. There were two drivers in the vehicle and they had crossed Churaibari and entered Tripura on 27th.
Nath added, “They came from Chennai. The Thermal screening was done at Churaibari entry point but they were found asymptomatic. However, their samples were collected and tested yesterday. Today, one of the two drivers from Tamil Nadu has tested positive”.
Before the test results were available, he along with the other driver had already left Tripura yesterday since the pass was valid till April 28. He was in Siliguri till the last information came in.
Ratanlal Nath said, five persons who came in close contact with the driver, tested negative – however, as per guidelines they have been put Institutional quarantine. Process has been started to trace other contacts of the drivers, if any, in the State.
