One school teacher was arrested along with contraband 8000 Yaba tablets in North Tripura during an anti-drug drive, police confirmed.

Agartala, December 22, 2019: In a shocking incident, one school teacher was arrested by Police in North Tripura today for involvement in drug peddling. Dharmanagar police led by SP North Bhanupada Chakraborty today held a school teacher and three other persons in connection with drug peddling. The school teacher was held along with contraband 8000 Yaba tablets during an anti-drug drive, police confirmed.
Acting on tip-off, the policemen carried out a raid at Bungnang area of Algapur Panchayat in North Tripura district and picked up the school teacher – Saumen Acharjee of Paschim Radhapur village. The arrestee is posted at Deocherra School in Panisagar.
Meanwhile, based on specific inputs, the policemen raided house of one Siben Miah near rail gate in Dharmanagar under North Tripura District this evening. During search, police seized a good number of drug containers but the house owner managed to flee before the team reached there.
Later, the policemen carried out a search at in-law’s house of Siban and seized around 50 kg ganja (five packets
containing 10 kg each). The ganja consignments smuggled from Agartala were supposed to be sent to Silchar tonight.
Meanwhile, police arrested three persons- Samsur Rahman of Durgapur in Dharmanagar, Mahilal Islam and Suhen
Bhuniya in this connection. The Dharmanagar police registered a case against the three persons under NDPS Act.
