Agartala Mar 27: Arshia Das is happy as in a remarkable gesture to help fulfill dreams, Bharat Pharmaceutical Technology has extended its support to he to take part in Grand Masters Tournaments to become an International master.
The organization has stepped forward to assist her participation in three prestigious Grandmaster tournaments.
On Wednesday, at a grand ceremony held at the office of Bharat Pharmaceutical Technology in Amtali, the company officials handed over a cheque of ₹2 lakh to Arshia.
Present at the event were the college principal Shubhashis Debnath, Professor Shantanu Mallick, and other dignitaries.
Although unable to attend, the company’s Director Rahul Debnath and Chairman Dr. Anjali Debnath sent their advance best wishes to Arshia.
The first of these tournaments, a Grandmaster event, will take place in Pune from April 20 to 28.
Arshia Das, the second FIDE Master from Northeast India and the first woman from the region to achieve this title, will participate in this competition.
Following this, she will compete in the Asian Continental Chess Championship in the UAE in May and then in a Grandmaster tournament in Sharjah.
Arshia, a ninth-grade student at Holy Cross School, received the ₹2 lakh cheque on this day to support her participation in these three events.
This assistance has been provided on behalf of the Anjali Health, Educational, and Charitable Trust.
Arshia’s immediate dream is to become an International Master. Given the pace at which she is progressing, chess enthusiasts in the state are hopeful that she will achieve this goal within the next year.
Currently, Arshia holds a rating of 2116, which is expected to rise to 2170 by the start of next month. She needs to increase her rating by another 30 points and secure three International Master norms to realize her ambition.
The young chess player from Metrics Chess Academy firmly believes she will achieve this milestone.
Arshia’s family has expressed their gratitude to the officials of Bharat Pharmaceutical Technology for stepping forward to support her dreams.
Her father believes that if various organizations continue to extend such helping hands, Arshia’s aspirations will soon come to fruition.

Arshia herself is elated. Before leaving the state today, she said, “The encouragement from the company officials has boosted my confidence even more. I will strive to fulfill my dreams and make the officials of this organization proud.”
From March 27 to April 6, Arshia will attend a special training camp in Chennai with Grandmasters, for which she departed on Wednesday afternoon.
