March 01, 2018: The new bi-weekly train Arunachal Express was flagged off by the Minister of State for Railway Rajen Gohain and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju from Naharlagun railway station in Itanagar today. The train from Naharlagun to Anand Vihar station in Delhi was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Itanagar. The train is currently running once a week between Naharlagun and Delhi as an AC Express. The Prime Minister renamed the train as Arunachal Express.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Railway Rajen Gohain said Arunachal Express train will provide more comfortable journey to passengers through its LHB coaches. The train will cover 2103 kilometres journey with 14 en-route stoppages in 38 hours. Railway State Minister said that this is the 14th direct train connectivity with national capital from northeastern districts.
Addressing the gathering the Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said that in last three years several rail-related projects have been initiated for Arunachal Pradesh and some of them have already completed. Expressing his satisfaction with enhanced rail connectivity from Arunachal Pradesh to the National Capital, he said at present, ten railway projects are going on in the state. (AIR News)
