Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh): The Wado-Kai karate team from Arunachal Pradesh shines at the National level as the team collectively won 17 medals with eight Gold Medals.
Held at Darjeeling in West Bengal, the 7th All India Wado-Kai National Karate Championship witnessed a stellar performance from the Arunachal Pradesh karatekas.
The Championship began on May 31 and continued till June 1.
The Arunachal Pradesh Karate team’s impressive 17 medal tally included 8 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze, highlighting the exceptional skill and commitment of the athletes.
Applauding the team’s achievement, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu shared on X, “Our Wado-Kai Karate Team has brought pride to the state by winning 17 medals at the 7th All India Wado-Kai National Championship in Darjeeling!”

Among the standout performers, nenow reported, John Dodum earned a gold medal in kumite and a silver in kata.
Ekhya Reang excelled in the junior category, claiming gold in kumite and silver in kata.
Takar Guha also had a strong showing, grabbing silver in kumite and gold in kata.
Ajay Rotom impressed with a double gold, winning top honors in both kumite and kata.
Other key contributors included Kyaling Nilo, who won a gold in kumite, and Sadu Jeram, who took home a gold in kumite and a bronze in kata in the junior division.
In the senior category, Likha Taka secured a bronze in kumite and a gold in kata, while Bamang Niglar collected silver in kumite and bronze in kata. Kunal Das added to the tally with a silver medal in kumite.
