December 30, 2017: In Assam, all preparations are being made to publish the first draft of the National Register of Citizens, NRC tomorrow.

Official sources said that the draft list will be available on various websites and citizens would also find their names through SMS service tomorrow midnight as well as from nearby NRC Seva Kendra on 1st of January.
The NRC of 1951 is being updated in the state under the supervision of the Supreme Court to detect illegal citizens.
Awareness meetings are being organized across the state by the district administration on NRC. (AIR News)
