Ruling alliance partners in Tripura – BJP and IPFT are continuing to clash in an attempt to gain political ground before ensuing TTAADC polls in Tripura.
Ground-level conflicts between BJP and IPFT took an ugly turn at Tulashikhar area in Khowai during MP Rebati Tripura’s visit in the area. In the skirmish, at least three BJP supporters were injured, however, the MP was unhurt.
Local sources said, tension was running high at Tulashikhar-Rajnagar area under Khowai for last few days over gaining political ground between ruling alliance – BJP and IPFT.
“Several BJP and IPFT supporters were injured in sporadic clashes between them and many houses were ransacked. One of the BJP Karyakarta Pradip Debbarma was injured and his house was ransacked, allegedly by IPFT supporters”, sources said.
In view of the unrest in the area, MP Rebati Tripura went to inspect the troubled area and meet wounded Pradip.
However, as Tripura’s visit was pre-fixed, IPFT gathered more than 200 supporters and kept waiting for MP’s arrival in the area.
At around 2pm, IPFT activists gheraoed Rebati Tripura and his team while Tripura was heading towards Rulashikhar Bazar. Meanwhile, a clash broke out between BJP and IPFT supporters in which three BJP supporters including one 50-year old person were injured.
Adequate Police arrangements were in place over the visit of the MP. Later, SP and SDPO along with reinforcement reach Tulashikhar area. A large contingent of Police the MP and his team escorted out of the area in the evening.
Security forces comprising Police, TSR and CRPF have been posted in the troubled area. No cases were lodged till the report filing.
