ProMASS: DEC 16,2016: In Assam, the Cachar Deputy Commissioner’s office has become the first DC office in the entire state, to implement cashless transactions for all official activities. Point of sales machines for digital transactions has been installed in the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Other alternative mode of cashless payments will be installed soon. Awareness campaigns are going on throughout the district by volunteers from all departments and community to motivate people on digital payments. The District administration has also asked trade and labour unions to open savings bank accounts of registered construction workers under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and to initiate steps to enroll their names under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jibanjyoti Bima Yojana.
