Agartala, September 16, 2019: All India Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev today rubbished the claim of Congress-free India (Congress Mukt Bharat) and asserted that it was an impossible task. Addressing a public rally in support of Congress candidate Ratan Das at Matripalli of Badarghat near Agartala, Sushmita Dev fired verbal salvo at saffron party and urged people to vote for Congress candidate in upcoming by-poll.
“The claim of Congress free India has no merit. If we start from the Children whatever they read in the schools is given by the Congress party. The right of assured employment through MGNREGA is also ensured by the Congress party. Each and every person who is beneficiary of the schemes launched by the Congress can never support this claim of Congress free India” Dev told an election meeting in support of Congress candidate Ratan Das at Matripalli of Badarghat near Agartala.
She also said, the very concept of democracy was introduced by the Congress party. The people who are now trying to oust the Congress party they have to understand that the Congress party itself given them the platform to speak against it.
Coming down heavily on the present BJP-IPFT government, she said, “I want to ask Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb that how much of his election manifesto was implemented till date.” She also sought clarification from the government on a range of issues during her speech.
However, she also stressed on as to how the party was working in Tripura to strengthen the Mahila Congress unit.
“In last few years the Mahila Congress of Tripura has touched new heights. And, I feel, in few years, it will become a strong part of the state Congress” she told the gathering adding that the way Mahila Congress had performed in the national level as party’s integral part the Tripura unit would also become the same.
