Agartala, April 17, 2020: Even as only two persons – one of them has already been cured and discharged from Hospital – were tested positive for corona, State Government is not taking any chances and keeping it ready for any eventuality. As part of its battle to combat corona, a 30-bed COVID19 health centre has been introduced at Nursing Training Institute (NTI) building of IGM hospital in Agartala. Education minister Ratanlal Nath said this at a press conference today.
The COVID19 health centre has been set up for the convenience of people having mild or moderate symptoms. Dr. Radha Debbarma has been given additional charge of as Nodal Officer of the health centre, Nath told the Media.
Besides, as part of the continuous efforts to deal with novel coronavirus situation, the state government has increased the number of beds in dedicated COVID19 hospital from 20 to 40 today.
“There were twenty beds in the COVID19 treatment centre functioning at New Teaching Hospital (NTH) building. Today, twenty more beds have been included in the dedicated treatment centre,” Nath said.
Referring to health condition of Tripura State Rifle jawan who tested positive Covid19, Ratanlal Nath said that the health condition of Corona-infected TSR jawan was stable.
Meanwhile, as per government’s order, Tripura Medical College (TMC) and private-run ILS hospital have started free OPD services from today.

“Today, 294 people in Tripura Medical College (TMC) and 14 persons in ILS hospital have availed the free OPD services. The OPD services for four departments- Cardiology, Neuro Surgery, Gynecology and Pediatrics were functioning in ILS hospital since the lockdown came into force. But, all the department resumed OPD services today,” Nath said.
In another note, Nath said the total amount of donations to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for strengthening the battle against COVID19 stands Rs. 8.58 crore till yesterday. The state government has released total Rs. 61,05,918 to 1769 people of Tripura now stranded in other parts of the country, he said.
