One more tested positive for coronavirus in Tripura, taking the state’s total active cases to two. He traveled in same compartment with first corona patient of Tripura

Agartala, April 10, 2020: One more person tested positive for Covid19 in Tripura taking total number of active cases to two. The male patient is a resident of Madhya Pradesh but deputed at Damchhera in North Tripura District.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has confirmed the second positive case of novel coronavirus and posted an update in his social media handle this evening.
Deb in his post wrote the patient is 32-year-old (male) from Madhya Pradesh and he is now staying at Damcherra under North Tripura district. He also urged the people not to panic.
Later addressing a press conference, State Surveillance Officer, Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma said that the patient was asymptomatic before being tested COVID19 positive.
The second patient, a jawan of 13-Bn Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in Damcherra, was the co-passenger in the same compartment of first Corona patient of the State. He traveled in the same compartment of Agartala-bound train Tripura Sundari Express in which the first COVID19 positive patient of the state had traveled on March 19 last, Dr. Debbarma told media today.
The State Surveillance Officer said, “The jawan didn’t have any symptom. But, we placed him in quarantine after tracking the contacts of the first patient and tested the sample which came positive today. The test has been done at Agartala Government Medical College.”
A team of Health department already reached the TSR camp in Damchhera to the patient to Agartala, he said adding that all personnel of the camp would be quarantined even if they don’t develop any symptom.

Dr. Debbarma said that the authorities concerned had already started gathering other details including traveling history of the infected TSR jawan. He stated that all arrangements were being made as per the guidelines
The State Surveillance Officer also confirmed that the samples of some other persons, who traveled along with the first COVID19 patient in the same compartment of the same train, were tested negative.
Meanwhile, health condition of the first COVID19 patient of Tripura is improving gradually, said State Surveillance Officer Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma. He said, “According to the reports of second round of sample testing, the viral load has reduced significantly.”
The patient, a 45-year-old woman of Gomati district, was detected as first positive case of novel coronavirus in Tripura four days ago.
