January 04, 2018: State CPIM today rallied behind the Chief Minister over his directions to the Chief Secretary and DGP not to meet the Governor and strongly underlined that the CM was right to say so.
Speaking to media today in Agartala, CPIM Central Committee member Gautam Das unequivocally said, “As per protocol, the Governor cannot summon a government official or minister without prior intimation to Chief Minister.”
Denouncing BJP’s criticism over CM’s directions, Das questioned, “Can our President calls up any Union Minister or Cabinet Secretary without prior intimation to the Prime Minister?”
Das during interaction with the press lashed out at BJP for ‘sheltering’ people who were charge-sheeted in journo Santanu Bhowmik’s murder. Notably, SIT, formed to investigate Shantanu murder case submitted charge-sheet against 12 persons on December 16 last and while six accused were nabbed remaining six were stated to be absconding. In a joining programme in Agartala on Tuesday last, five IPFT supporters including two of those fugitive six accused formally joined BJP.
Strongly criticizing BJP’s role for giving shelter to the IPFT activists, Das said, “BJP state prabhari Sunil Deodhar welcomed the IPFT activists and now it’s his responsibility to hand over them to police.”
“IPFT is frontal organization of NLFT. Besides, some of the IPFT activists were involved in the brutal killings of reporter Shantanu Bhowmik and motor worker Jiban Debnath. But, the BJP is now on a move to forge electoral understanding with IPFT. What does it indicate?” he questioned.
