Agartala (Tripura) Jun 15: The Tripura government launched the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan on June 15. The Abhiyan is a significant initiative aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of tribal communities across the state. The campaign, running until June 30, 2025, seeks to deliver benefits from central and state government schemes directly to tribal beneficiaries. The program was inaugurated in two key locations: Prajna Bhavan in Agartala and Rajarshi Hall in Udaipur, with prominent state ministers emphasizing the government’s commitment to achieving 100% development in tribal areas. TW Minister explains Govt’s primary goal
Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma inaugurated the campaign at Prajna Bhavan, emphasizing that the state government’s primary goal is to achieve “100% development” for tribal communities. He highlighted the unprecedented steps taken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to uplift tribal populations socio-economically, surpassing efforts of previous central governments.
“Through this campaign, benefits from 20 departments will reach beneficiaries’ doorsteps via camps held until June 30,” Debbarma stated. He noted that many tribals remain unaware of government schemes, and the Abhiyan will play a pivotal role in raising awareness. Addressing students, he urged them to combine education with social responsibility, encouraging participation in sports and cultural activities to foster a healthy societal ethos.

Cooperation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia added that a developed India by 2047 hinges on the holistic progress of tribal communities. He praised the current central government for recognizing the contributions of tribal icon Birsa Munda and appointing a woman President. Noatia also highlighted the state’s success in reducing malaria in hilly tribal areas since 2018 and its ongoing efforts to expand facilities in these regions.
Special guests, including T.R. Paite (Managing Director and Chairman, National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation), Nagendra Debbarma (Director, TRP and PTG Department), and Ratnadip Debbarma (Director, Tribal Research and Cultural Institute), reinforced the campaign’s significance. The event featured the virtual inauguration of online smart classrooms for schools and interactions with tribal students in boarding houses. Two tribal students were felicitated for their achievements in national competitions. Attendees included West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Tribal Welfare Department Director Shubhashis Das, and social worker Bipin Debbarma.
Ensure swift delivery of scheme: Pranajit Singh Roy
In Udaipur, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy launched the Gomati district-based Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan at Rajarshi Hall, stressing that a strong India depends on the socio-economic upliftment of all citizens, particularly tribals. He credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for elevating India to the world’s fourth-largest economy and expressed confidence in further progress.
Roy urged officials to ensure swift delivery of scheme benefits, emphasizing ongoing development in tribal areas, including roads, education, drinking water, and electricity. Gomati Zilla Parishad President Debal Debaray noted the district’s national recognition for implementing the PM Janman scheme and expressed optimism about achieving similar success with this campaign.

Gomati District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma announced that 24 camps will be organized across 72 villages in Gomati district to provide services like Aadhaar cards, ration cards, caste certificates, PRTC, Ayushman cards, KCC cards, Jan Dhan accounts, social pensions, PM Vishwakarma, Mudra loans, and women and child welfare benefits. The event, chaired by Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumdar, saw participation from Matabari BAC Chairman Biplab Kumar Ghosh, Killa BAC Chairman Bagan Hari Malsom, Kakraban BAC Chairman Upendra Jamatia, Matabari Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Shilpi Das, and Additional District Magistrate Subhash Acharya. Ministers and guests distributed benefits from departments such as fisheries, agriculture, social welfare, and animal resource development.
