Agartala (Tripura), June 15: Tripura government is launching the ‘Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ from June 15 to 30 to enhance grassroot participation of indigenous people in Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA).
The Janbhagidari campaign is part of the nationwide Janajatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations, which honor the 150th birth anniversary of legendary tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The DAJGUA was nationally launched in 2024. In Tripura, this transformative central scheme has already reached 392 tribal villages across the State, officials confirmed.
During a press briefing held in Agartala on June 14, Director of the Tribal Welfare Department, Subhasish Das, revealed that the centrally funded initiative is currently being executed in collaboration with 20 departments of the state government.
The program’s primary objective is to ensure 100% coverage of crucial individual-centric welfare schemes—such as Aadhaar, Ayushman Bharat, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi—by October 2, 2025.
Das also disclosed that a fund of ₹80.99 crore has been earmarked for developmental projects over the next five years. These include the construction of 20 new hostels, refurbishment of 16 existing ones, the development of two multipurpose tribal marketing centers, the establishment of nine Forest Rights Cells, and the cultivation of fish in 28 hectares of water bodies with a special allocation of ₹1.12 crore for aquaculture initiatives.
Also addressing the media were Joint Director Shashwat Sen and Senior Research Officer Sukanta Paul, who presented a detailed framework of the implementation strategy.
