March 31: Outlining priorities in Disaster Management, Chief Minister Biplab Deb emphasized on preparedness to minimize impact of disaster. “It is better to enhance preparedness in tackling so that losses could be scaled down”, Deb said while inaugurating a one-day seminar ‘Natural Disaster management’. The seminar was organized by Indian Building Congress at Pragna Bhawan in Agartala March 30.
He said, “Tripura is located at sensitive 5th zone in earthquake prone area in North Eastern region. Considering this it is important to ensure safety of our infrastructures and we have to acquire necessary knowledge from experts of Japan, Israel and Dubai”.
He also said, school students must be imparted lessons on natural disaster management on every third Saturday. Spelling out his dream, the Chief Minister said, “We want to build 10-storied earthquake proof building in Tripura”.
Referring to frequent landslides along NH 44, Biplab Deb said, road connectivity plays important role in attaining development and prosperity and in this context, a solution to overcome the problem needs to be worked out.
The Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman and president of Indian Building Congress cum DG of CPWD, AK Sinha also spoke on the occasion. In the technical session, total 11 experts made powerpoint presentation focusing on various aspects natural disaster management.
