In Assam, Union Minority Development Minister Dr Najma Heptulla launched Nayi Roshni scheme in Nagaon district Friday. The scheme aims to empower and instill confidence among women by providing knowledge, tools and techniques to interact with government systems. The scheme targets the minority women in the age group of 18 to 65 years with the family income of less than 2 lakh 50,000 rupees per annum.
In the current financial year, the Ministry has sanctioned training to 4,600 women in Assam. Dr Heptulla also launched Nayi Manzil programmes in 4 madrassas in Nagaon and Morigaon district for skill development of youths. She will hold a review meeting in Guwahati today with all the concerned ministers of North East and senior officials. Official sources said, Ms Heptulla would review the implementation of various schemes of her Ministry.
Meanwhile, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh is visiting Guwahati today. He will hold a citizen meet and inaugurate an agriculture exhibition.
