Quoting PTI, AIR Shillong reported, Tripura was awarded as the best performing State in the country in implementation of MGNREGA in 2014-15 as it generated 88 man days. Out of total 657 MGNREGA districts in the country 11 districts were selected for award, two of which are from Tripura.The Gomati district was awarded for ‘effective implementation through convergence’ and Dhalai district was awarded for ‘generating highest 99 man days in the country through effective initiative’.The awards were given in MGNREGA conference held recently at New Delhi on the occasion of MGNREGA day to mark the completion of 10th year of the project. Union Financne Minister Arun Jaitley was the chief guest on the occasion presided over by the Union minister for rural development, panchayati raj, drinking water and sanitation Birendra Singh.
