Education Minister Ratanlal Nath chaired a meeting of high-level committee at Shiksha Bhawan on Wednesday to fix the dates for conducting various examinations and commencement of classes.
In the meeting, the discussions focused on re-opening of schools and colleges, conduct of internal examinations, the final semester examinations of Colleges, Tripura Joint Entrance and Law Entrance exams.
While briefing media, the Education Minister said that a new committee had been formed to fix the dates for conducting such examinations. Nath said chairman of Higher Education Council, Arunoday Saha, has been made chairman of the committee.
The other members of the committee are- TBSE former president Prof Mihir Deb Sarkar, Tripura University Vice Chancellor- M.K. Singh, MBB University Vice Chancellor- Satyadeo Poddar, former Director of School Education- Ranjit Debnath, former Headmistress of MTB School- Rita Paul Chowdhury, Headmaster of U.K. Academy- Rajesh Debbarma, TIT Principal Shekar Dutta and Higher Education Director Saju Wahid Ahmed.
“As per the decision taken in today’s meeting, the schools and colleges will not open now. The preparations will be in place. A decision will be taken as per the decision of central government and Health ministry later so that the examinations like NEET don’t fall on same dates,” he added.
“Final-semester examinations of Colleges, as per the UGC guidelines, may be taken online or offline. We had discussion with the Vice Chancellors of Universities. We opted to go slow since some of the states have sought Prime Minister’s intervention in this regard,” Nath told the Media.
The Higher Education department has taken decisions to complete all internal examinations by August 15 next, Nath said.
