Artificial elephant adds new flavour at Vishwakarma Puja in Bishramganj ITI in Tripura

An artificial elephant was the star attraction during the Vishwakarma Puja festivities in Bishramganj under the Sepahijala District of Tripura.

Adorned with a garland of marigold flowers and an intricately designed forehead ornament, this magnificent creation warmly welcomed the enthusiastic crowds gathered at the Vishwakarma Puja pandal of Bishramganj ITI.

The lifelike elephant delighted onlookers as it gracefully flapped its enormous ears and animatedly moved its trunk to spray water. This remarkable artificial elephant is a testament to the harmonious fusion of tradition, student talent, and the creative expertise of the students and dedicated faculty members at Bishramganj ITI.

Like every year, Bishramganj ITI also solemnly held Vishwakarma Puja this year – however, with a significant difference. Along with the traditional rituals for the puja, the College authority wanted to involve the students in demonstrating their skills and sharpening their talents, said the College Principal Rahul Ghosh.

Artificial-elephant-Bishramganj-ITI-TripuraAccordingly, Deepak Debbarma, a second-year student specializing in Information and Communication Technology System Maintenance (ICTSM) at Bishramganj ITI College was entrusted with the task of building a lifelike elephant.

Deepak Debbarma, a student with an innate talent for craftsmanship, led a collaborative effort involving instructors and students from various trades at ITI College to construct this remarkable replica of a jungle elephant. The attention to detail is such that it mimics the natural behavior of an elephant, including the act of drinking and splashing water on its body.

Starting his artistic endeavor on September 5, Deepak Debbarma diligently worked on the intricate project, culminating in the completion of the artificial elephant on Monday morning, September 18 – on the day of Vishwakarma Puja. The magnificent creation now stands proudly in front of the Vishwakarma idol within the college premises.

Principal Rahul Ghosh expressed his pride in the college's youth, saying, "By launching the artificial elephant, we showcase the skills, talent and knowledge of our state's young talents. The entire project was created at an approximate cost of Rs 15,000”.

With the Ganesh Puja followed by the festive season ensuing in Tripura, Ghosh urged the Community Puja committees to install such creative works in their puja pandals which would amaze the puja revelers as well as create earning opportunities for the skilled and talented youths of the State.
