Bharat-Bangladesh Paryatan Utsav begins: Tourism to make Indo-Bangla relations stronger, says Tripura Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurated a three-day Bharat-Bangladesh Paryatan Utsav- 2022 at Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala on Sunday.

 

Bharat-Bangla-Paryatan-UtsavIn his inaugural speech, the Minister said Tourism industry is not only for entertainment, it also plays an important role in expansion of education. Pointing out the cordial bilateral relations between Tripura and Bangladesh, he also urged the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to invest and set up industries in Tripura.

 

He said, “Tourism helps increase people to people connection and the people of Tripura and Bangladesh are already connected historically, culturally and musically. Tripura shares close ties with neighbouring Bangladesh.”

 

Addressing the colourful programme, he also highlighted Tripura’s important tourist locations including Chabimura, Jampui Hills and Tripura Sundari Temple.

 

Speaking on Tripura-Bangladesh bonding, he said, “We are divided geographically but united by history and culture. The people of Tripura had immense contributions in the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.”

 

Tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who presided over the inaugural function, said Tripura’s Narkelkunja would soon turn into the most attractive tourist locations.

 

He also expressed hope that the Feni Bridge at Sabroom would strengthen the trade between the two countries, largely benefitting the people of Tripura and Bangladesh.

 

The Tourism minister also spoke on the other connectivity links being established with Bangladesh.

 

Bangladesh MP Dr. Md. Abdus Sahid remembered Tripura’s contributions during the 1971 Liberation War. He said the Tourism festival would strengthen the relationship between the two countries. The Bangladesh delegate said Tourism industry plays an important role in economic growth.

 

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, chairman of Srimangal Upazilla Bhanulal Roy, secretary of Tripura Tourism department- Kiran Gitte, Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner, Agartala- Arif Mohammad, Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism, North East- Sankha Subhra Devbarman among others were present in the inaugural ceremony.

 

A delegation of Bangladesh along with tour operators from West Bengal and North east participated in the inaugural ceremony that was followed by a cultural event.

 

Meanwhile, a colourful rally was organized in the city in the morning with participation of the representatives from Bangladesh.
