"I am delighted to inaugurate the newly constructed Dr. Arunabha Roy Synthetic Athletic Track under the Khelo India project at the Regional College of Physical Education in Panisagar and fulfill the aspirations of the people," he said.

The track can host 400 meters, 200 meters, and even 800 meters races with ease.

The concept of establishing a synthetic track in Panisagar was proposed in 2018 under the Khelo India scheme. The government has committed to providing financial support to talented athletes across the state, encouraging those with the potential to win medals through various initiatives.

Besides, Sports Secretary P.K. Chakraborty mentioned that work on another synthetic track in the state is nearing completion. The total cost for the current track is Rs. 5.55 crore, with Rs. 6.98 crore allocated for the project. Of this, Rs. 5.57 crore has already been expended.

The RCPE facility can accommodate over 100 students, with arrangements already in place for their training under qualified coaches from the Northeast region.
