Cong holds rally for 'Mehangai Mukt Bharat'

Tripura-Congress-Price-riseAs part of the nationwide programme, Tripura Pradesh Congress held a protest rally titled ‘Mehangai Mukt Bharat’ in Agartala against the price hike of essential commodities including petro-goods. Besides, the law and order situation in the State is deteriorating and Congress submitted a memorandum to this end to the DGP on Wednesday, said TPCC chief Birajit Sinha.

Sinha led the rally against price rise and blamed the State and central government for price hike. He also condemned attacks on the opposition party workers and submitted a memorandum to the DGP.

Speaking to the media, All India Congress leader Szarita Laitphlang claimed people are anxious owing to unabated price hikes. During the last 15-16 days, prices of petrol-diesel increased by around 14 percent – people of the country are in a dire situation.

“People are in distress in BJP regime as prices of all the commodities are skyrocketing. The government is looting the people. Congress Party supporters, across the country, are holding protest programme to form public opinion against the incumbent government”, Szarita said.

Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman said BJP is not a party, it is actually a corporate and commercial organization. He alleged BJP-led State government is depriving the local contractors by including some typical conditions so that contractors of other States get privileges.

Among others, Congress leaders including Gopal Roy and Laxmi Nag were present in the protest programme and deputation submission to DGP.

Congress leaders criticized the government for the ‘deteriorating’ law and order situation and attacks on opposition party workers.
