Covid Vax: Two-day Special drive in AMC areas starting from April 9
The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) will organize special Covid Vaccination drive in the AMC area on Friday and Saturday (April 9 and 10). Chief Medical Officer Dr Debashish Das said.
As many as 50 Vaccination centers will be opened in AMC areas during the special drive. Vaccination will start from 9am and will continue upto 4pm on both the days. People, above 45 years old, who could not get the jab, may avail the opportunity and get vaccinated free of cost, Dr Das said.
In view of recent spike in Covid cases in Tripura, the Government as well as concerned stakeholders have stressed on bring more eligible people under the vaccination drive. In this connection, it may be noted, the IMA also set up vaccination center for public and Agartala Press Club will conduct special Vaccination camp for media persons of age above 45 years.
Besides, administration is also stressing on wearing masks and maintaining social distancing in public places. In some areas, administration has started penalizing the people for eschewing masks.
As the Bengali Year-end is approaching, reduction sale in Agartala is going on in full swing. While some people are wearing masks, many were seen shopping without wearing masks – many other were seen not wearing the mask properly. Considering crowd gathering every evening in reduction sale markets, administration is repeatedly urging people to follow Covid appropriate behavior like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
Using Public Address system, administration is requesting people and informing about impeding danger. Media is also doing its part in generating awareness.
While, non-compliance of Covid guidelines in Agartala is obvious, rural areas are also witnessing similar violations, especially in rural weekly markets.
