Demise of the Nightingale: Tripura CM, Dy CM and people grieve, Govt declares two-day state mourning

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and many others mourned the demise of the Nightingale of India, Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.

 

People associated with cultural activities gathered at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan premises and paid homage to the legendry singer. Several clubs lit up candles before the portrait of Lata Mangeshkar and offered floral tributes.

 

As a mark of respect, Tripura government declared a two-day mourning.

 

BJP, Trinamool Congress, CPI-M, Congress and many other individuals, organizations including School of Science and cultural  bodies expressed grief at the death of Lata Mangeshkar.

 

Deb paid his homage to the departed soul at his official residence.

 

Nightingale-Lata-Mangeshkar-Tripura CM-grievesHe wrote on Facebook, "Extremely saddened by the passing away of Nightingale of India, legendary singer LataMangeshkarJi. She was a true devotee of music and has sung more than 30,000 songs. Her voice will sooth the ears of melophiles for years to come."

 

"Latadidi had always showered immense affection on #Tripura, It was an honour for us when she received a replica of Ganesha made up of bamboo and wore a Risa, a traditional tripuri attire. Lata Didi's memories will always be cherished and will bring smiles on many faces," Deb wrote in a separate Facebook post.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma in his social media handle said : Deeply saddened by the demise of Lata Mangeshkar ji. A voice that defined Indian music for generations her legacy is truly unparalleled. Heartfelt condolences to the family. Om Shanti.

 

Students of leading coaching centre of the state School of Science also mourned the demise of the Nightingale of India.
