First among Bru people in Tripura: Choungsmaiha Reang takes charge as Army Officer

A Tripura youth, Choungsmaiha Reang, belonging to an indigenous community took charge as an Officer in Indian Army on Sunday.

 

The youth, Choungsmaiha Reang, belongs to the Bru community - one of the 19 Indigenous communities of Tripura and he is the first among the Bru community who succeeded to become an Army Officer. 

 

Indian-army-Tripura-BruChief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha congratulated Lieutenant Choungsmaiha Reang for his success. Dr Saha wished him good luck.

 

In a Facebook post, Dr Saha hailed the efforts of the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to improve the socio-economic conditions of the Bru community people.

 

He wrote, “The socio-economic status of Bru community is changing with the overall efforts of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Bhai Shah”.

 

According to a Youtuber, Srang Family, Choungsmaiha Reang is the first youth from his community who has become an Army officer. Son of Late. Rev. Ramani Kr. Reang and Minati Reang, he hails from Bokafa under Santir Bazar in South Tripura District.

 

Bru community people congratulated Choungsmaiha Reang and termed his success as an inspiration for the indigenous people.

 

“It is a proud moment and historic one for the people of the State, in particular, the Bru people. He will inspire other youth of the community to excel in different areas of life”, wrote a person on Youtube.
