Gift Milk programme distribution starts in Tripura remote areas

In an attempt to eradicate malnutrition among school children, steps have been taken to distribute milk among students in schools of remote hilly areas. As part of this initiative, State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath launched the ‘Gift Milk’ distribution programme at Mungiyakami HS +2 School on Monday. The programme is being sponsored by National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.

 

Giftmilk-distribution-Tripura-newsSpeaking on the occasion, Ratan Lal Nath said, the Education department has taken initiatives to enhance nutrition among the school students and as part of the initiative, a milk distribution programme among school children of remote areas under Mungiyakami has started.

 

Nath also said that under the initiative, milk would be distributed among the students for 25 consecutive days.

 

Reacting to the initiatives, local people hailed the programme. They said, people in remote areas are toiling hard to ensure a square meal daily for family members. Distribution of milk will address the nutritional issues among the children of poor inhabitants of remote areas, local people opined.

 

Local MLA Atul Debbarma said, children of remote areas are facing nutritional issues. He thanked the organizers of the programme – NFN and Gomati Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited for the milk distribution programme.
