Noel Tata lands in MBB Airport: Mesmerized, he admires New Airport

Believe it or not – Noel Tata, the Chairman of Trent Ltd landed in the MBB Airport on May 1. The beauty of the newly constructed MBB Airport fascinated Noel Tata. He walked around and was in all praises for the planning etc.

The tweet read, “Today (May 1) Shri Noel N Tata, Chairman Tata international Ltd arrived at Agartala by chartered flight due to diversion. He was mesmerized and appreciated New Airport. He admired the planning and maintenance and conveyed his best wishes to AAI”.  

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, Agartala Tripura on January 4, 2022. 

 

According to a PIB press release, the new MBB Airport was built at a cost of Rs. 450 crore (excluding GST) on 30,000 sq. metres area.

 

The new terminal showcased the combination of local art, culture and heritage as well as focused on promoting Tripura’s important tourist spots including Chabimura and Unakoti. Bamboo architecture is represented in the façade of the terminal building by way of a floral jaali pattern depicting the forests and greens of the region. Local tribal stone sculptures of the Unakoti Hills and local bamboo handicrafts have been extensively used in the interiors.

 

The airport of Agartala, which was spread over 10,000 square meters, has now been built in an area of ​​30,000 square meters which will showcase the cultural heritage of Tripura.

 

After the inauguration, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport will now be able to cater 30 lakh passengers every year instead of 13 lakh in a year. Under the Krishi Udan2.0 scheme of the Central Government, 4500 kg of agricultural products have been exported in the month of November 2021, which includes pineapple and jackfruit of Tripura.
