Opposition Leader Criticizes BJP Government for Unemployment Crisis in Tripura

Leader of Opposition and the CPM state secretary Jitendra Choudhuri launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP-led coalition government in Tripura on Wednesday. He accused the Government of failing to address the severe job crisis affecting the rural poor and unemployed youth in the state.

Speaking at a mass gathering in Agartala, Choudhuri criticized the government's alleged practice of enticing unemployed youth with job advertisements before elections, only to cancel these opportunities post-election. He claimed this tactic exacerbates the struggles of jobless individuals in Tripura.

Tripura-CPIM-Jitendra-Choudhury-UnemploymentChoudhuri further condemned the government's outsourcing policies, arguing they unjustly deprive local unemployed individuals of job opportunities. He painted a grim picture of rural areas, where some impoverished tribals are forced to cross borders to collect medicinal plants for their livelihood, while others flock to the capital in search of work.

The acute shortage of employment under schemes like REGA and TUEP, he noted, has plunged the poor into deeper distress.

Highlighting the impact on education, Choudhuri lamented the deterioration of the system under the BJP's rule. He recalled the Janashiksha Andolan, which had boosted literacy rates and established schools in remote areas, and contrasted it with the current government's closure of over 900 schools during Biplab Kumar Deb's tenure and the recent decision to shut down more than 100 schools due to a teacher shortage. He accused the BJP government of failing to recruit sufficient teachers over the past six years.

Former Left Front ministers Manik Dey and Pabitra Kar also addressed the gathering, directing their criticism towards the Modi-led central government over controversies surrounding the NEET-UG and UGC-NET examinations. They demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing the need for accountability and reform in the education sector.
